... And Some Love for the Man Who Started it All

Jeff is the Co-founder of both OPA and the 4th of July Main Street Parade (and has organized the parade for 13 years).  He was the community liaison for the Main Street Business Improvement District (MSBID), which is responsible for dealing with issues regarding Main Street and the Farmers Market, including putting the valet bike racks and free parking at the beach on Sunday mornings. He was also the Co-Chair of the Ocean Park Blvd. Beautification Project.

Jeff is currently President of the Santa Monica Sister City Association (Fujinomiya, Japan – Kizugawa, Japan - Hamm, Germany - and Mazatlan, Mexico and more to come). He also serves on the Boards of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Santa Monica (FREE) Symphony, SM Family YMCA and is the Legislative Rep of the PTA. Jeff has lived in our community for 40 years and is married to Faye. Son Morgan is a student at SAMOHI.

About the Ocean Park Association

The Ocean Park Association residents’ group appreciates our sunny days, ocean breezes and our quality of life. We are involved in many projects that aim to improve our reality. We navigated the renewal of Ocean Park Blvd. and are now focused on the revitalization of Lincoln Blvd. You’ve seen our fabulous murals on Main St. decorating formerly naked walls, and walked by some of the trees we’ve planted in naked planter boxes. On the lighter side, we love a party. This is the 13th year we’ve hosted the Santa Monica 4th of July Parade; it gets more fun each year. OPA stays involved in local events like the Santa Monica Festival, Main Street’s Summer Soulstice celebration and Make Music LA. We host a variety of social mixers and throw a tremendous holiday party.

“Since I joined OPA I’ve met people I’d never have come across, though we live close together,” shares board President Andrew Gledhill. “I’ve got a better understanding of what goes on in Ocean Park and the big city (Santa Monica), and sometimes even why it happens. It makes a huge difference to my enjoyment of being here in our neighborhood. I’d bet the rest of our board and our active members would say the same - taking part in the life of Ocean Park is just more rewarding than simply being in Ocean Park, delightful though that is.”

Our monthly meetings, held in the evenings on the 2nd Monday of the month (more meeting info), feature distinguished guests sharing their insights on matters that affect Ocean Park. Guest speakers include everyone from local heroes to City policy makers, historians and local movers and shakers. Each gathering is lively and insightful and a great opportunity meet your neighbors and take part in our community.

OPA is your voice for local concerns, an outlet for sharing what’s going on in our city, and an opportunity for you to work alongside your neighbors to improve and protect our Ocean Park community!
